Which breed is better in terms of handling itself alone with other dogs for extended periods of time (the one with less separation anxiety from the owner)?

In the late 1800`s the Doberman Pinscher was a shaggy athletic mutt that lacked intelligence it needed a major makeover then it`s creators Louis Doberman and Karl Friedrich gave the Doberman exactly what it needed. They included DNA from a new source in Germany the Italian Rottweiler this changed everything. The Doberman became fearless and it`s bite was no longer a joke its coat was smooth beautiful and sleek it is one of the smartest breeds anywhere.

My doberman does not guard against me or any other person. She guards against dogs, but ONLY dogs she doesn't know/like. Only physical corrections stop it, but she does it against the next day.

Canadian here. Both of my Dobes love winter, especially playing in the snow. Come summer time they would rather lay in the A/C.

17 minute video with a whole bunch of talking and yet zero useful info. If you guys are looking for training tips with your Dobe get doberman specific Trainer, who is familiar with the breed. Dobermans are a bit different. Verbal corrections do not work with Dobermans and unfortunately the longer you let this behavior go on the worse it’ll get. Redirection and distraction are a path to disaster. The only thing that works is correction and it’s not verbal. When they bite you and you make sounds, you are just seen as a squeaky toy. The more they bite the more you squeak the more fun it is . Don’t waste your money on his webinars or whatever. He has no idea what he’s talking about. He might be able to train a Chihuahua but not a Doberman.

What an awesome informative video! I really love how you explain the reasoning and why something works. I have seen many videos on this topic, but was never made aware of the body language aspect. I suspect this will be useful for any correction, even outside of biting. I will be getting my doberman puppy soon and these videos are helping me prepare so much! This has been one of the best videos I've seen so far.

The American Pitbull is not really a guardian breed. It is more of a catch/game breed bred and used for things like wild boar hunting, bull baiting, bear baiting, and dog combat. But even still, it is a surprisingly versatile breed. It's even more versatile than the doberman. I know some may disagree, but think about it. There are successful police Pitbulls, therapy Pitbulls, and personal protection Pitbulls, but where are the good doberman weight pulling dogs or wild boar hunting dogs like there are with Pitbulls?

If you have a cropped and docked Doberman in the UK, expect to be verbally and possibly physically assaulted. You will be in constant fear of being judged (quite right in my opinion) so please don't buy a mutilated puppy. 😢

We just got a 1yr old Doberman puppy male yesterday. Sometime during the night, he made wee on my kitchen oven door and at the foot of my husband’s recliner seat. I cleaned it up with no fuss; I know that he’s homesick from the farm we got him from. We live in Yuma so that means during the summer months, he’ll be indoors majority of the time. My question is, how do I calm my 1yr old Doberman pup so he doesn’t have these nervous/ scared reactions (I guess the proper to say)?

There is one other medical condition the Doberman is prone to that was not mentioned. Von Willebrand's disease is caused by a lack of a protein that helps in the formation of clots when the dog is bleeding. There is no cure, but it is managable, but you have to know BEFORE any surgical procedure or any injury if your dog has it. Testing is simple and can be done at your vet's office.

On a walk today with my pit corso on the leash. An off-leash doberman comes up all stanced up right in my dogs face trying to assert dominance then starts growling. I dont know which dog got the party started but they got in to it pretty good briefly until the dobermans owner ran up and grabbed his dog. That dog was lucky mine was on a leash. I was a split second away from dropping it so he could defend himself properly. Absolutely zero recall, another irresponsible owner who shouldn't have an advanced breed like a doberman

What about if the dog is resource guarding its human from another dog in the family? My dobermam won't let my cocker spaniel near me on the sofa if she's having fuss.

Cropping and docking is banned in Greece too. I was considering getting a doberman as my first guard dog, but i am worried that their natural look is probably too soft to intimidate. That's not to say natural looking dobermans are incapable in protecting, but i would rather not be attacked in the first place. Has anybody a natural looking doberman? how is it perceived by strangers?

My female German Shepherd is 7 and still full of energy and in good shape. Her parents lived to be 17 years old. Hoping she has a few good years in her.

I had a Doberman/Border Collie mix. He was small but highly intelligent and I didn't need to walk him on a lead after the age of 5. He would walk across busy roads, stand in the middle whilst cars went past on command and went across the road when I told him to. He would also intervene in family arguments. He didn't like any conflict between the family. RIP Charlie <3

I live in Michigan. Ive raised doberman for 25 years. Never once have they been so cold sensitive they needed a coat.

Kahlua just turned 5 months, had her two weeks. Potti training has been a nightmare, set alarm take her out she does some business., comes in goes on the floor. She had free access from person I got her from to go through doggie door do her thing on outdoor lanai. There is lots of chaos here 3 kids under 6 14-year-old and other pets. The hour seemed to long I needed to follow her because she would go into another room and pee. Have been using treats, steak, animal crackers as reward with little success. She did respond to the come commands per your video, but only indoors, have not been able to compete with the distractions. She is really well behaved otherwise, good with the kids and our other dog. We have a good bond and have since our meeting. Can't figure it out, never had this problem with any of my other dogs. Anything that will help will be greatly appreciated .

My dobe is 5 and definitely a challenge. I compare her to having a 3 yr old toddler. It's about the same amount of care. Lol. My Dobe is very intelligent which means she is stubborn n doesn't like when I do any activity that doesn't include her. Definitely loves her daily walks n yes they do require exercise n stimulation. I can attest to this. This is my 2nd Dobe. This video did make me worry when I heard the health issues. She will be 6 in May n is very large Dobe with very very broad muscular chest. Hearing they have chest issues also worries me. So far no health issues n I pray that continues 🙏 🤞

Wasn't planning on getting a doberman or even a puppy. He was abandoned in the neighborhood, and he's mine now. He's super smart and sweet as honey. Having to train the kids to train him while we're at work. *The shelters are full and literally not taking in any dogs. They are requesting that you foster them at your house. Sad situation with an increase in dumped dogs. Even purebred dobie pups are getting dumped. Crazy times.

My Doberman pees outside but doesn't poo outside even tho we take her outside every hour. How can I change that?

The Dogo Argentino out weighs the Doberman and has almost twice the PSI in its bite force. It has insane stamina and is overkill alert and aggressive as a guard dog. It was bred for personal protection and was trained to hunt large game like pumas and wild Boars for Christs sake 😳 sorry but the Dogo is a More superior Dog by a large margin 💪🏼

Can they both smell a seizure? I have grand mal epilepsy and was wondering because I’m stuck at these two breeds as a seizure response dog!
